Abstract

1,192,100. Modifying copper surfaces; coating with metals. ASAHI GLASS CO. Ltd. Nov. 27, 1968 [Aug. 27, 1968], No. 56192/68. Headings C7F and C7U. A copper coating on a reflective silver layer is contacted with a chromating solution containing 0À01 to 80 g. /l of chromic or dichromic acids or chromates or dichromates. The silver may be deposited on a glass substrate by vapour deposition or by an electroless solution containing e. g. AgNO 3 , NH 4 OH, and Rochelle salt, saccharide or formaldehyde. The copper is deposited from a copper sulphate solution containing finely divided Zn, Fe, Cd, Ni, Co, Cr, W, Mo, and Mn, with phosphoric, sulphuric tartaric oxalic or formic acids or ammonium persulphate.
