1,191,949. Coal tar composition. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 58172/67. Heading C3N. A thermally stabilized coal tar composition free from sulphur or epoxide contains, in stabilizing amount, one or more amino compounds containing an NH group attached directly or through a methylene group to an optionally substituted aryl group and directly to an optionally substituted aryl, aralkyl, alkyl or cycloalkyl group or an acyl group. Acyl groups specified are phenyl carbamoyl, tolyl carbamoyl, thiocarbamoyl, phenylthiocarbamoyl or the S.CS group. Specified amino compounds are N-alkylanilines such as N-octylaniline and N- dodecylaniline, N-benzylaniline, dibenzylamine, N,N<SP>1</SP>-ditolylurea, N,N<SP>1</SP>-diphenylguanidine, diphenylamine, phenyl-α-naphthylamine, diphenyl - p - phenylenediamine, mercaptobenzthiazole, carbanilide and thiocarbanilide. The amount of amino compound used is preferably within the range 0À05-5% of the weight of the coal tar. The composition may also contain tar distillates, mineral aggregates and wetting agents. The composition may be used in the form of briquets.
