Fulling and milling; stop-motions.-In a machine for milling or fulling fabrics, two freely revoluble circumferentially grooved rollers a, b are arranged in the same horizontal plane between the draught-board : i and the guide or dandy roller j, the roller b being adjustable laterally with respect to and yieldingly movable away from the roller a, which has a fixed position such that the fabric k bears with more pressure on the roller a than on the roller b. The annular ribs on each roller are substantially opposite the grooves in the other roller and tend to stretch and turn the fabric tn prevent or minimize the formation of creases. The shafts of the rollers a. b are slightly movable axially through their bearings c<1>, e to an extent limited by collars on the ends of the shafts. The bearing c<1> is fixed to a stationary bracket c. and the bearing e is movable on the bracket and can be adjusted by spindles f provided with handwheels g, passing through bearings in feet c<2> on the bracket c, and having screwed ends engaging nuts e' depending from the bearings e. Springs h confined between the feet c<2> and collars on the spindles f allow the roller b to yield for the passage of knots &c. in the fabric. The roller b may be actuated at one side only of the machine. To equalize the length and running of the draughts of fabric, the opening i<1> in the diaught-board i may be subdivided by spindles inserted in openings n extending from the front edge of the board to beyond the opening i<1>, the spindles being held in position by a hinged or pivoted cover o.
