The counterweight k is lifted vertically by a rope c which runs over a cam c or a pulley groove on one of the pulleys b of the driving rope. Instead of being directly connected to the pulley b or the driving rope, a pulley system may be introduced. between the pulley b and the rope e so as to obtain a smaller lift of the counter weight for a given motion of the driving rope.
