Abstract

1,190,524. Rotary fluid-flow meters. AMERICAN METER CO. Aug. 27, 1968, No. 40916/68. Heading F1F. A rotary fluid-flow meter comprises a casing 11 containing a crescent-shaped member 20, which in co-operation with the wall of a circularcylindrical bore 17 and a part-cylindrical surface 31 defines an annular channel 27 intersected by a parallel eccentric cylindrical-cavity 30 for a two bladed rotor 34 and inter-meshing rotary-abutment 44, respectively, the latter being coupled to the rotor by a train of gears 53, 54, 55 so as to rotate synchronously therewith in the same direction. The gear 53 is lodged within, and fixed to, a hollow head 63 on the rotor, the gear 54 mounted rotatively on a disc 23 attached to the member 20 and carrying bearings 35, 47 for the rotor and the abutment, respectively. A yoke 59 connects the head 63 to a register (not shown) or the like. A second embodiment, Fig. 9 and 10 (not shown), differs from that shown chiefly in that the axes of rotation of the rotor and the abutment are orientated horizontally and the rotor has four blades instead of two, the abutment having two pockets (150) for the passage of said blades instead of the single pocket 50, Fig. 1. A third embodiment, Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), differs from that shown chiefly in that the rotor has three blades and the abutment has two pockets.
