Abstract

1,189,956. Tape dispensers. TAPELER CORP. 10 May, 1968, No. 22407/68. Heading A4G. In a tape dispenser the roll 20, Fig. 4, is rotatably supported on a hollow boss 10 containing an internal spindle 12 on which is rotatably mounted a cup 11 with a flanged lip 16. Spring 13 around spindle 12 is adjustably compressed between washers by nut 15 to exert a frictional drag between the cup bottom and the boss support 10A. A spring 19 is anchored at 19A to the cup bottom and its other end 19B projects through a part circumferential cup slot 18 to lie between flange 16 and the boss end. The roll core 22 has at least one inward lug 23 which passes through a flange slot to engage end 19B of spring 19 whereby unwinding of tape is resiliently bracked and slack taken up. Spring 13 may lie outside cup 11 or may be formed by torsion rods 47, Fig. 9, having bayonet connection at 47B with the friction disc 41. Lugs 23 are formed further inward on the core of a wide tape to ensure its midline being in the same position as that of a narrow tape.
