Abstract

1,189,907. Drawers. L. W. L. ALSTON. 15 Oct., 1968 [16 Oct., 1967], No. 47068/67. Headings A4B and A4H. A drawer has a back 1 and two sides formed separately as injection mouldings of plastics material, the back 1 having box-shaped cavities in its ends which receive ribbed connections 8 at the rear ends of the sides. The back 1 and sides 9 have respective grooves 13, 27 to receive edges 14, 29 of the drawer bottom 15. Outer grooves 20 in the sides 9 provide runner guides. Each connector 8 comprises a plate 8<SP>1</SP> with parallel ribs 8<SP>11</SP> and formed with a projection 7 which locks in a hole 6 in the wall of the cavity 3. A lug 19 on the side 9 engages a recess 17<SP>1</SP> in the back 1. The drawer front (30) may be of hardboard, plywood or plastics and carries connecting pieces 31 each comprising a strip 32 with barbed pegs 33 on one face to engage the front (30) and with connectors 8 on its opposite face to engage box-shaped cavities 25 in the front end of a side 9. A further connecting piece 38 may interconnect aligned back parts 1 to form a wider drawer. A projection 40 on the piece 38 has a pin 41 which engages a hole 42 in the bottom 15.
