Abstract

1,188,929. Moderator structures. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 3 March, 1969 [22 March, 1968], No. 11253/69. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor solid moderator assembly, a peripheral retaining structure is formed of identical panels bolted together to form a cylindrical casing enclosing the moderator. The assembly is formed in two sections, the central one being formed of bars 3 with fuel bores 7 along the vertical axes and an outer section, surrounding the central portion, comprising columns 8, without axial bores which form a reflector. Keys 5 and 9 lock the bars together and the central columns are separated by the clearances 6. The retaining structure 10 is formed of panels 11 of the same height as the bars 3 secured together at the collars 11a. The shoes 14 are welded to the collars and bear against the peripheral bars of columns 8 at the level of the joining lines 13 between the bars 3. The rim 15 of 10 carries the pins 17 which engage the upper portion of the peripheral columns.
