Abstract

1295560 Reactors COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 15 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 48121/71 Heading G6C In a high temperature, helium cooled, nuclear reactor, the core is formed of columns of prismatic elements having the same geometrical module. The core is surrounded by a reflector and a thermal shield formed of similar elements. The core, reflector and shield rests on an array of supporting posts which are carried by a bed plate formed of elements having the same geometric module as that core. The reactor, together with heat exchangers, is mounted within a prestressed concrete pressure vessel. The elements may have an hexagonal crosssection and are interlocked by the keys 13, 14 and 15.
