Abstract

1,188,690. Window with slidable translucent panels. J. O'CONNELL. 2 Oct., 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 33646/67. Heading E1J. A window e.g. comprising vertically sliding sashes 11, 12, has four translucent plastic panels [13], 15 and [14] 16 (panels [13] and [14] being shown behind panels 15 and 16 respectively) disposed in front of it so that the panels [13], [14] screen the outer end parts of the window lights and the other two panels 15, 16 are mounted on runners or guides so that together with panels [13] and [14] they completely screen the window lights or can be slid back over the outer panels [13] and [14] as shown, to leave the control part of the window lights uncovered so that they do not bar the entry of daylight. The panels 15, 16 are each supported by carriers 25, 24 respectively sliding in guides attached to the head rail of the window frame and are attached to the lower and upper runs 23b, 23a, of an endless cord wrapped around a central pulley 22 and over end pulleys 20, 21, mounted on the head rail the endless cord being moved either clockwise or anticlockwise by having attached thereto pull strings 26, 27. The outer panels are flexible so can be easily removed by binding from their fittings located behind guide strip 29.
