Abstract

1,188,608. Moulding electrodes; press dies. VON ROLL A.G. 19 April, 1968 [25 April, 1967], No. 18591/68. Heading B5A. A press for compacting pourable material, e.g. making electrodes from a filler and powdered binder, comprises two dies co-operating with a mould, at least one of the dies being movable, and means for generating vibrational movements located inside at least one of said dies. As shown, the press comprises a mould 7, an upper die 2 and a lower die 4. A die plate 14 is resiliently attached to the top of the bottom die and can be vibrated by a device 12. The mould is filled from the hopper 16 and the bottom die 4 and mould 7 are raised so that the top die 2 compresses the material. The vibrator 12 is switched on before the mouldable material contacts top die 2 to produce a more uniform moulding. The mould may be provided with another vibration device 50.
