Abstract

1305740 Moulding pulverent material GEN. ERALE SUCRIERE SA 24 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 36105/70 Heading B5A An apparatus for moulding pulverent material e.g. sugar, into a coherent lump, comprises a mould 2 in a moving support 1, and a piston 4, actuated by a fixed cam surface 5 to compress the sugar against a stationary bearer 9 vibrated by a supersonic magneto-striction generator 11. In Fig. 2, not shown, moulds are arranged in a rotating drum 13 and pass successively below a charging hopper (15) before moving below the bearer 9 which is supported in a frame (18) reciprocated by a crank (16), (17). The mould pistons 4 compress the sugar in two stages by the action of cam surfaces (5a), (5b). The generator is controlled by a cam-switch 19, 20. The frame (18) can be fixed. The amplitude of the generator can be varied.
