Abstract

1,188,528. Sectional cargo-carrying vessels. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 8 June, 1967 [9 June, 1966], No. 25724/66. Heading B7A. A water-borne cargo-carrying system comprises a first bow section 11 and a first stern section 13 incorporating propulsion and steering means, the sections each having a relatively wide beam " B " a second bow section 15 and a second stern propulsion and steering section 14 each having a relatively narrow beam " B-X ", and one or several load-carrying units 12 having the length " B " of the wide beam and the breadth " B-X " of the narrow beam. The complementary sections and units are connectible at or below deck level. For deep sea work the units 12 are connected to the wide beam bow and stern sections, Fig. 1, and for coastal and inland waters they are turned through ninety degrees for connection to the narrow beam bow and stern sections, Fig. 2.
