1,188,460. Keyboards for printers. GERATEWERK KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. 13 Dec., 1968, No. 59561/68. Heading B2F. A keyboard includes a lock bar 1 tiltable about its lower edge between two locking positions, in each of which it prevents operation of a respective predetermined number of keys, and two shift keys 16 and 17 each arranged to tilt the lock bar into a respective one of its locking positions. Each shift key 16 or 17 carries a rider 19 having a sloping face adapted to tilt the lock bar into the associated locking position. Each character key 13, 14, 15 carries a stop 18 in one of two positions, which engages the upper edge of the lock bar and thereby prevents operation. Key 15 (e.g. a reserve key) has stops 18 in both positions to prevent operation of the key in both locking positions of the lock bar. All the key levers are provided with two holes 21 and 22, and with two cutaway portions 23 and 24, which serve for the attachment of plastics stops 18 or riders 19.
