Abstract

1,188,285. Connecting containers together. VICKERS Ltd. 5 July, 1967 [15 April, 1966], No. 16731/66. Heading B8P. [Also in Division E2] A number of freight containers are secured together in face-to-face relationship to form one standard size container by coupling elements (see Division E2) which may be brought together in engagement and locked by rotation of one part. In one embodiment female elements F are secured to the faces of the containers and connected by male elements M having at each end a nose 13 which is slidably engageable into a respective female element and then locked by rotation by a lever 10, 10A. Various modifications of coupling elements are described and there may be female elements on one container engaged by male elements on another container. Coupling elements may also be attached to slings and pallets for securing to the containers.
