Abstract

1,187,356. Gravity conveyers. DEXION Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 11743/68. Headings B8A and B8S. A gravity roller conveyer includes a section 1 which is downwardly retractable so that an article 27a is able to pass from a section 24 on to the section 1, the article then being halted by stops 17. When the section 1 is raised the stops no longer hold the article 27a, but a following article 27b is stopped by the upstanding rear end of the section 1. The front end of the section 1, now aligned with a roller section 25, discharges the article 27a on to a conveyer 26. The stops 17 are adjustable longitudinally of the section 1 to deal with articles of different lengths. A pneumatic cylinder device 7, 8 for raising the section 1 may be controlled manually or, if the conveyer is one of a number constituting a storage installation, the control may be programmed. Electromagnetic, hydraulic or mechanical operation may be used for actuating and controlling the section 1. The roller section 25 is not essential, the articles then passing directly on to the conveyer 26 or other delivery means.
