967,993. Roller conveyers. ALVEY-FERGUSON CO. July 2, 1963, No. 26186/63. Heading B8A. Articles A on a gravity roller conveyer 10 feed downwardly until the lowermost corner of the lowermost article engages an abutment surface 27 on a fixed stop bar 21 transverse to the conveyer and rests on a shelf surface 26 on the stop bar 21 so that the leading edge of the article is clear of an open joint 31 between the stop bar 21 and a lifting bar 32. The lifting bar 32 is pivoted at 33 and actuated by a piston and cylinder unit 37. The abutment surface 27 is forwardly angled, or curved, so that the lifting force required is minimized. Sections 11 and 12 of the conveyer are angled slightly at a joint 14 to provide a space 15 to facilitate lifting the lowermost article.
