[Also in Division H4] A microwave radiator device for medical use comprises a cup-shaped conductive body 7, Fig 3, spaced inside which, near its open end, is a closed conductive loop 12. U-shaped bends 11 in the loop 12 increase its length so that adjacent portions of the said loop oscillate in phase opposition at the operating frequency. Power is fed to the loop 12 via impedance matching means 14, a wire 6, a radial wire 10, and a further wire 9. The device has an outer form of a conical handle. Its mouth may have a plastics cover, which may itself be covered by a disposable paper foil. In other embodiments loops without U- bends are used, of either circular or elliptical form (Figs. 1, 2, not shown).
