Abstract
1,188,110. Treating with radiations. K. FRITZ. 16 March, 1967, No. 61189/69. Divided out of 1,187,019. Heading A5R. [Also in Division H4] A microwave radiator device for medical use comprises a cylinder 18 having an end wall in which there is an array of slots 15. A second cylinder 19 co-axial with, and spaced from the cylinder 18 also has an end plate, from which projections enter the slots 15. In consequence, each slot 15 is divided into two parts, and the frequency of excitation is made such that the radiations from the two parts are in anti-phase. It is stated that the device is particularly suitable for skin treatment, as the radiation field is strong near the slots, but rapidly diminishes away from them.
