Abstract

1,186,997. Printing apparatus. ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP. 29 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 20314/68. Heading B6C. In a printing machine of the kind in which data-bearing means such as embossed cards are held in an aligned series on a base and the data are transferred to an overlying form by passage of a movable platen, located in areleasably latcheddown hinged head, the effective travel of the platen may be reduced by making it release the latch before it reaches what would otherwise be the limit of its travel. Pawls 103 and 104 are linked, and in normal use are released by the striking of projection 120 on yoke 87, which carries roller platen 86 against pawl 104, but interposer 122 may be placed between them so that the pawl 104 is moved when yoke 87 and roller 86 are short of their full travel by the length of interposer 122. Selective data may be added to the form by wheels 63 and roller 86 may be dry, and be used with a ribbon, or be inkimpregnated. Abutment of an end of interposer 122 against side member 81 prevents overstressing of pawl 104.
