Abstract

118,675. Harris, T. H. Sept. 6, 1917. Radiators.-Corrugated tubes for internal-combustion engine radiators &c. are formed by folding a blank of thin sheet copper, brass, &c. so that the edges are in alinement, interposing one or more strips of lead or other pliant material of the desired thickness, and then corrugating by rollers or in an angle-bending press, the free edges being at the same time temporarily pressed together. The interleaf of lead &c. is then removed bodily, the edges springing apart sufficiently to allow this removal. The edges are then joined by soldering, brazing, &c. The edges of the blank may be previously turned in upon themselves to form a filling or distance piece. The lead &c. may be rolled flat and used again. The interspace between the walls of the tube may vary from one end of the tube to the other.
