Abstract

103,215. Robinson, P. March 17, 1916. Metal tubes.-Scrap metal tubes are converted into strips or sheets by a machine comprising a pair of rolls b, a slitting-disk d, and a mandrel a which is cylindrical at the end remote from the rolls and gradually widens into a flat form at the underside of the end adjacent the rolls The heated tube is pushed on to the narrow end of the mandrel and, during its advance towards the rolls, is slit and spread out between the mandrel and the frame c. It then enters the pass of the rolls and is reduced to uniform thickness. The sheets may be used for making washers, nut blanks, &c.
