An indicator for the heating of the glow plugs in an internal-combustion engine has an incandescent filament coil 11 which is secured in an electrically insulated manner to the base 13 of a substantially cylindrical housing 14. The heating current to the glow plugs is conducted through the filament coil, which has such an electrical resistance that the filament wire starts to glow as soon as the necessary pre-heating period of the plugs is terminated. The indicator is intended for fitting into the dashboard of a motor vehicle.
