Abstract
1,186,330. Cleaning tube surfaces e.g. in steam boilers. S. HUTTER K.G. 20 Jan., 1969 [19 Jan., 1968], No. 3064/69. Heading F2N. In a process for cleaning surfaces affected by chimney gases in steam boilers, heat exchangers and the like, a cleaning agent, consisting of an alkali, e.g. trisodium phosphate or tertiary sodium orthophosphate, is mixed with water, and steam, and the mixture is sprayed on to the surface to be cleaned at a temperature of about 90‹ C. and under a pressure of from 20-50, and preferably 30, atmospheres. The surface may be subsequently sprayed with substances such as pyridine, homologues thereof, or with phosphoric acid with inhibitors added to it. Where the surfaces have deposits containing lead compounds alkali mixtures may be sprayed alternately with acetic acid mixtures. As shown, steam, water, and cleaning alkalis, are fed respectively through pipes 1, 2, 3 to the injectors 6, 7, 8 of a jet cleaner to mix in a chamber 5, the mixture leaving the jet nozzle 4 at a temperature of about 90‹ C. and under a pressure of 30 atmospheres.
