Abstract

1,185,554. Liquids enclosed in flexible containers within rigid containers; boxes. S. G. B. ABELIUS. 12 April, 1967 [13 April, 1966], No. 16758/67. Headings B8C and B8P. A box 4, slidable into a sleeve 1, houses a bag 5 that has a twisted neck into which extends a tubular insert 11, the contents of the bag being in communication with the atmosphere through the neck. To facilitate the twist the insert is rotatably mounted in an aperture in a double-ply end wall of the box and may be retained by the engagement of one ply between spaced annular ribs 10 or a groove on its body. The bag mouth 7, which also extends through the end wall, is held by friction between the insert and aperture. A flap 2 may effect closure of the sleeve when the box is contained therein. The bag which may contain, e.g. live worms or plants may be made from synthetic plastics, and the box may have a window for viewing the contents. In another form (not shown) the insert 11 is mounted, in a similar manner, in a removable partition inside the box, Fig. 5 (not shown). Additional holes are provided in the partition to facilitate hanging the bag and insert from a hook. The bag may be introduced into the box through a window in one wall.
