Abstract
1,185,518. Water craft for carrying vehicles; propelling. CREATIVE PLASTICS Ltd. 6 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 15852/67. Headings B7A and B7V. In a water craft adapted to carry a selfpropelled snow-vehicle of the ski-type, a propeller 23 between floats, or pontoons, 5 on a frame 2 is driven by the engine of said vehicle through a shaft 27, gears within a case 28 and a shaft 19, the shaft 27 being within the vehicle and furnished with sprocket wheels to drive an endless track, which propels the vehicle when on land and is removed when the vehicle is mounted on the craft. A rudder 17 is coupled by a linkage system 30, 31 to a steering arm (not shown) on the vehicle for controlling a movable ski, which is detached when the vehicle is upon the craft The pontoons may be filled with a foamed plastics-material. The craft may be modified, Figs. 7, 8 and 10 (not shown), such that the propeller is coupled to the endless track aforesaid by way of sprocket-wheels (41) meshing therewith. Alternatively, the propeller may be coupled to the engine of the vehicle through a chain or clutch, and may be replaced by a pump effecting water-jet propulsion. A single rudder may be provided on each pontoon.
