Abstract

1,185,091. A jet deflector. SOC. BERTIN & CIE and ENGINS MATRA S.A. 21 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 13150/67. Heading B7G. A jet deflector comprises a divergent nozzle 1 which leads into a wider chamber 4 which has a convergent downstream end 9a, 9b with an exit 10 in line with the nozzle 1, the spaces in the chamber 4 on each side of the nozzle 1 having connections 12a, 12b, so that the pressure Pa, Pb, in these spaces can be varied (either by vacuum or compressed air) to deflect a jet issuing from the nozzle. The compressed air or vacuum may come through a single pipe 14 and then be divided by a valve 13 into the connections 12a, 12b.
