Abstract

1,184,902. Packaging in tubed webs. F. J. ROWELL. 23 March, 1967 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 54533/65. Heading B8C. A valve 11 at the bottom of a reciprocating tube 1 controls the delivery of material into sachets formed by transversely welding a tube formed continuously by folding a web about a mandrel 2. In the form described transverse sealing jaws (not shown), carried on a reciprocable carriage 4, close over the end of the tube to form a transverse seal, and with the jaws still in engagement on the tube, the carriage is lowered to pull a length of tube corresponding to one bag length, off the mandrel. The nozzle, which is spring mounted on the carriage, also moves downwards and a cylinder 12 opens the valve to fill the bag. After pistons 14 vibrate the nozzle, the carriage is raised to withdraw the nozzle. A cylinder 12 controls the valve 11.
