The conduit 5 disposed between a filling line 3 and recirculation line 6 in a machine for filling liquid, e.g. milk aseptically, is kept entirely filled with liquid by means of a back pressure valve 2. The valve 2 encases a spring that is urged against a closure member on the inlet side. The pre-load of the spring may be adjusted by pneumatic or screw-threaded means.
