1,184,783. Optical objectives. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. May 1, 1967 [Feb.1, 1966], No.4461/66. Heading G2J. A lens system of fixed focal length has a convergent component 1, Fig.1, a meniscus 2 convex to the front, a bi-concave component 3, a meniscus 4 concave to the front and a convergent component 5, the axial thickness of one of the meniscus components being greater than that of the other meniscus by a factor of at least 1À7. Optical data are given for the embodiment shown in which the bi-concave component 3 is a singlet and meniscus 4 a doublet, and also for another embodiment in which the bi-concave component is a doublet and the second meniscus a singlet.
