Abstract

1,184,431. Releasable fastenings; clamps. SMITH & DAVIS Ltd. 19 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 28357/66. Headings E2A and E2B. A releasable fastening of resilient plastics for a gramophone case comprises a keeper 12 secured to the lid of the case and a plate 11 secured to the body of the case and formed with a bearing portion 20 and key-ways 21 to receive, after the plate has been secured to the case, a cylindrical projection of a bolt 10, the projection having ears 40 which pass through the keyways and into a recess beneath the bearing portion 20 so as pivotally to retain the bolt on the plate. The keyways may be formed with tapering ribs 22 to prevent unintended removal of the bolt. The bolt is of box-like form, having flow walls 27a, b, c and d, one 27d of which has ribs 32a, b, c which resiliently engage an arcuate projection 37 on the keeper when the bolt is rotated to the fastening position shown. In this position, ribs 29, 31 resiliently engage in recesses in curved walls 23 formed on the plate 11, and a stop 44 on the plate 11 is engaged.
