Abstract
1,184,402. Oxidation catalysts. KNAPSACK A.G. 21 Aug., 1968 [24 Aug., 1967], No. 39931/68. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] of silver, iron, bismuth, molybdenum and, if Catalyst compositions consisting of oxides desired, phosphorus in atomic ratio, Ag 0À01-1À5 Fe 0À1-12 Bi 0.1-12 P 0-5 MO 12 O30-110 are used in the oxidation of propylene and/or acrolein and/or substances yielding acrolein in the gas phase to acrylic acid. The catalyst may be on a carrier such as SiC, Al 2 O 3 or SiO 2 and an example describes a preparation by adding MoO 3 powder to a solution of iron, bismuth and silver nitrates to which phosphonic acid is then added. The solution is evaporated to dryness, calcined, crushed and mixed with silicon carbide, treated with air and steam and finally reduced.
