A strut or stud 5 for connecting internal and external building panels 2, 1 respectively has a cross section one end of which is formed with a recess defined by two walls 9 converging towards an opening and having at the other end a bifurcated portion 10 the internal walls of which are serrated. Bent-over edge portions of the panels 1 engage within the recess where they are retained by an elastic sealing section 8 part of which engages within the recess. The panels 2 are retained either by an elastic member 11 engaging between the serrated walls of the bifurcated portion, or by a wooden fillet 12 and a wood screw 13 extending through the fillet into the bifurcated portion of the strut. The building structure embodying the struts 5 may also include sections 15, Fig. 2a (not shown) and Fig. 2b functioning as stays having flanges 16 to which the bent portions of the panels 1 can be secured by slit tubular clips 17 with an elastic sealing strip 20 located between the bent portion of the panel 1 and the flange 16.
