Abstract
1,183,038. Centrifugal blowers. C.A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Sept. 21, 1967 [Sept.29, 1966], No.43588/66. Heading F1C. A gas circulator unit, e.g. an electric-motordriven centrifugal blower 1, can be removed from the wall of a pressure vessel, e. g. a nuclear reactor 5, after the circulator unit has been isolated from the interior of the pressure vessel by closure of ports 5, 7 and 8. The latter are closed by sliding an inner sleeve 3 axially towards the left as by an electrical or hydraulic mechanism, to cause an enlarged diameter portion 3a of the sleeve to engage and move a cylinder 9 to a position limited by stops 9a located in slots 9b. In this position the cylinder 9 closes ports 5 and 8, and the port 7 is closed by a fixed cylinder 4. Stops 9b located in slots 3b provide the necessary abutments between the sleeve 3 and cylinder 9 when returning the latter to the position shown.
