Abstract

1,182,735. Spinning; finding yarn ends. LEESONA CORP. 18 June, 1968 [17 July, 1967], No. 28879/68. Headings D1D and D1J. When yarn Y from a spinnaret has filled a yarn bobbin it is cut and passed into an aspirator 22 as a temporary storage whilst the bobbin is changed and as the yarn still proceeds from the spinnaret it passes through a venturi tube (Fig. 3) in the aspirator which produces by means of baffles a vortex flow of air surrounded by a laminar flow of air preventing the yarn from touching the sides of the venturi. As shown an injector 20 when the bobbin is full receives a short blast of air which through a piston moves the nozzle 52 forwards, towards the aspirator entrance 21 this movement operates the cutters 19 through a lost motion device and the yarn end is pushed by the nozzle and then by a delayed blast of air into the entrance 21. In the nozzle the yarn is carried through a tube 73 to the venturi 76. A continuous air jet from the pipe 27 acts through the venturi 76 and by means of baffles 82, 86 produces a vortex flow 83, surrounded by a laminar flow 84. The aspirator is detachable to reposition the yarn on a fresh bobbin. A water droplet may be introduced through a tube 87 in the injection to aid injection.
