Abstract

1,181,309. Axminster looms. FIRTH CARPETS Ltd. 22 July, 1968 [11 Aug., 1967], No. 36891/67. Heading D1E. An Axminster spool loom comprises a pair of chains 23 between which is supported a series of spools 17 the looped parts of which chains are raised and lowered so that in the lowest position a required spool is in position for insertion of tuft loops without removing the spool from the chain. The shaft 1 is rotated and oscillated by a drive from eccentric gearing to a sprocket 5. The shaft 2 is driven by a star gear 11 from the shaft 1. Raising and lowering of the shafts 1 and 12 is provided from cams (not shown) acting through lift rods 13.
