A cardboard tray has outer walls 2, 3 connected by gusseted portions 9 or flaps which are sandwiched between outer walls 3 and infolded inner walls 6 and inner walls 4 which are glued to -outer walls 2 so that end portions 12 splay outwardly from the outer wall under the influence of the tension in the hinge 5 and present free edges against which adjacent inner walls 6 may abut. This effect may be enhanced by the provision of creases, scores or perforations 10 at the ends of the glued areas 11. A flap may be hinged at the upper end of the upright free edge of an unglued portion 12 and sandwiched between outer wall 3 and inner wall 6 and adjacent inner walls 4, 6 may be interlocked. The tray may have integral base flanges, an inward or outward taper and a lid of similar construction.
