Abstract

1,181,179. Terminals. AMP Inc. 4 Dec., 1968 [5 Jan., 1968], No. 57476/68. Heading H2E. An electrical connector consists of a contact portion 2 for engaging a post terminal and an integral ferrule portion 1 for attachment to an electrical conductor. The contact portion consists of a channel with a base part 6 and two sidewall parts 7, 8, each having an aperture 9, 10 with a flange 11, 12 open at one end 14, 15 of the sidewall and each being provided with overlapping lug portions 16, 17 having holes aligned with an aperture 20 in the base part for clamping the lugs to the base parts (with a bolt 21 and a nut 22). The ferrule part for crimping to a conductor has inturned edges 4, 5 and transverse serrations for gripping the conductor. The entire connector is folded from a blank stamped from strip metal (Fig. 4, not shown). The apertures can be suitably dimensioned to grip different shapes of post terminals.
