1,181,104. Coating with metals &c. SIEMENS A.G. March 16, 1967 [March 30, 1966], No.12477/67. Heading C7F. [Also in Division C1 A metal e.g. Mo, Ta, W, Va is protected with an intermediate layer of up to 100Á of a silicide of the base metal and an outer enamel layer. The intermediate layer may also include Cr or Ti silicides and an aluminide of the base metal. The silicide layer may be formed by a melt dip process or as a slip or by depositing Si from the gas phase. The enamel may be low silicate glasses which are rich in alkaline earth metal.
