Abstract

Object is coated with a first metal layer which can form a compound with a refractory metal, such as niobium or molybdenum with a low m.p. alloy, which is applied as a second layer. The second layer comprises a circular crystals aligned perpendicularly to the object's surface and is treated with a molten mass of alloy and silicon. This changes the layer partially into a porous protective structure.
