Abstract

A thermostatic element consists of 2 mutually adhering layers of materials having different thermal expansion, coeff., one metallic and the other non-metallic formed electrochemically from the metallic layer. The metallic layer may be at least partially of Al or alloy thereof, and the non-metallic layer of Al oxide. The thickness of the non-metallic layer may be 10-20% of that of the metallic layer. The Al layer may be previously bent to the finally required extent and will not alter during treatment.
