1,181,078. Silver halide emulsions. FERRANIA S.p.A. March 1, 1967 [March 17, 1966], No. 9783/67. Heading G2C. Gelatine silver halide emulsions contain one or more water-soluble acrylamide copolymers formed from acrylamide and a monomer of formula:- in which R is H or alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl, benzyl, -(CH 2 ) 2 OH 1 -CH 2 CHOH CH 3 or -(CH 2 ) 2 OR<SP>11</SP> or, when R is methyl , R<SP>1</SP> may represent a dicyclopentyl or hydroxymethyl, and R<SP>11</SP> represents an alkyl or aryl group. Noble metal, sulphur and polyoxyethylene sensitizers, couplers and optical sensitizers may be present in the emulsion.
