Abstract

A terminal block mounted on a rail 3 comprises an insulating housing 1 having a socket 8 for insertion of a cartridge fuse 6, with screwcap 7, and an opening 13 which opens laterally into the socket, see Fig. 2. The block also comprises two terminals 12, 15 with associated contacts 4, 5 to receive the fuse 6 in the socket 8, and an insulating gauge ring 14 (Fig. 3, not shown) which can fit in the opening 13 and has a hole (16) for receiving either the first-inserted end of the fuse 6 or an interchangeable gaugereducing ring (17). The gauge ring 14 has locating protrusions (23) which engage recesses in the housing 1 and secure the gauge ring. The gauge-reducing ring (17) may have screw threads (18) on its periphery to retain it in the gauge ring 14. The ring 14 may have recesses (21) and slits (22) to enable it resiliently to grip the gauge-reducing ring (17), and may have recesses (19, 20) which protrude from the housing and enable the ring 14 and exchangeable gauge-reducing ring (17) to be inserted and extracted without the use of an auxiliary tool.
