Abstract
1,180,633. Change-speed gearing. SOC. ANON. DE VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECANIQUES SAVIEM. 21 April, 1967 [21 April, 1966], No. 18519/67. Heading F2D. The casing of a six-speed and reverse, or (as shown) of a ten-speed and two reverse, countershaft gear for vehicles is internally divided into three parts by partitions 4 and 5, providing bearing supports for the countershaft 3 and the input and output shafts 1 and 2; a pick-off input train A is provided in a first part 19 of the casing which also forms the main clutch 6 housing; trains B-F, engaged by synchronizing dogclutches 7, 8 and 22 are located in a central part 15 formed without peripheral orifices for robustness, the train B being a pick-off train; and a reverse train G being formed in the third part 17. Both the six-speed and ten-speed gear-boxes may be assembled to provide an overdrive. As shown, the clutch disc 6 is mounted on an input sleeve 27 adapted to be clutched by a device 23 either to the input pinion of train A, freely mounted on shaft 1, or to the input pinion of train B, fast with shaft 1, synchronizing dogclutch 22 clutching shaft 1 to shaft 2 for direct drive, and for drive through train A to train B which may be the overdrive. Again, Fig. 2 (not shown), a six-speed gear-box is shown in which the clutch disc 6 is mounted directly on shaft 1 which is rotatably fast with the input pinion of train A, and the train B is a simple countershaft train, a double synchronizing dog-clutch (9) providing direct drive or clutching the respective pinion of train B to the shaft 2. The axial length of the gear-box is reduced by utilizing the synchronizing dog-clutches of Specification 1,118,642 and the working of gear-wheels of Specifications 1,180,632 and 1,170,165. The gear selector and control 21 and forks 25 are as described in Specifications 1,176,536 and 1,159,753 and may be power assisted by the compressed air system of Specification 1,177,375 (modified by the doubleacting actuator of Specification 1,166,819).
