Abstract

1,180,547. Printing apparatus; grippers. DRUCKMASCHINENWERK PLANETA, VEB. 16 April, 1968, No. 17856/68. Heading B6C. A gripper 3 freely mounted upon a gripper shaft 1 is connected to the shaft through springs 4 and 6 and a member 2 which is fixedly connected to the shaft. The spring 4 is compressed between a shoulder 22 on the gripper 3 and a lug arrangement on the member 2 whilst the spring 6 is compressed between studs 19 and 18 formed on respective parts 2 and 3. Gripper pressure on a fixed abutment 23 is adjusted by an adjusting bolt 20 threaded in a part of the gripper 3. The springs 4 and 6 act in a clockwise direction about the shaft and, when properly tensioned, substantially eliminate any reaction forces between the gripper 1 and the gripperbearing surface around the shaft.
