Abstract

1,180,534. Feeding sheets. RECOGNITION EQUIPMENT Inc. 10 July, 1968 [11 Jaly, 1967], No. 32922/68. Heading B8R. Sheets are separated from a stack 10 of sheets on edge by a reciprocating shuttle plate 18 which is perforated and communicates with a source of suction by way of a rotary valve 19 comprising a fixed apertured plate 65 and an apertured valve disc 83 rotatable by shaft 69 to apply a partial vacuum periodically through the shuttle plate, there being an apertured rotary control disc 90 movable (e.g. by a stepping motor) between first and second control positions to cause the apertures in the disc to be in and out of registration with the apertures in plate 65 whereby the feed may be stopped as required. Plate 18 deliverst he sheets to rollers 12 and 20a, roller 20a being oscillated on a pivoted lever 21a to grip the sheets. Passage of sheets between rollers 14 and 30 breaks contact 35 and enables the sheets to be counted. A plenum chamber 47 prevents more than one document moving on to the conveyer.
