Abstract

1,180,451. Overhead travelling - cranes. WELLMAJST-CRANES Ltd. 14 Dec., 1967 [24 May, 1967], No. 24070/67. Heading B8B. An overhead travelling crane has a trolley 15 from which is suspended a lifting beam 20 having means for carrying a ladle 23, the beam being suspended at each end from two winding drums mounted on the trolley and disposed side by side with their axes parallel. The beam 20 has hooks 21 for engaging trunnions 22 of the ladle. The winding drums are interconnected by driven gears so that they are rotated synchronously. The ends of the beam are suspended from the drums by ropes or chains, and the latter or pulleys round which they extend may be attached to pivoted levers to give compensation between the ropes or chains.
