Abstract
1,179,883. Separating liquid particles from gas. BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP. Ltd. 2 May, 1968 [2 May, 1967], No. 20298/67. Heading BIT. Oil and/or water drops are removed from air flowing axially through housing 10 by their impinging on a baffle 13, formed as a coil of strip material whose successive turns overlap so that no gaps are visible between them when viewed axially. The wide or narrow end of the baffle may be upstream, and the baffle material may be plastics or metal with a P.T.F.E. coating. The cross-section of the baffle may be flat, and inclined inwards or outwards depending on whether the wide end of the baffle is upstream or downstream, or concave as illustrated in Fig. 2 (not shown). Liquid runs along the concave baffle to leave the casing by an outlet duct, forming an extension of the baffle. Liquid flows radially across the flat baffle and is blown on to the next turn thereof. A coalescer 20 is fitted upstream of the baffle.
