Abstract

1,179,879. Valves. R. LUDI A.G. 26 April, 1967 [27 April, 1966], No. 19180/67. Heading F2V. The fluid-tightness of two series-connected shut-off valves 13, 14, e.g. in the supply line 10, 11, 12 to a gas burner 15, is tested, e.g. automatically, each time the burner is shut down. An electric signal through a line 37 from the burner to a control 32 shuts the valves electromagnetically. Another signal relayed to a testing device 35 opens a first test valve 25 paralleled across the valve 14 to the atmospheric side 12 to vent the line section 11, an auxiliary manual test valve 26 being open. Valve 25 is re-closed and one minute later a pressure gauge 27 is scanned electrically to indicate whether valve 13 is tight. If not, a warning device (not shown) is operated and prevents re-opening of the valves 13, 14. Otherwise, test valve 21 opens to pressurize the section 11 and is re-closed. After a further minute, the gauge is scanned again for a possible warning should valve 14 not be tight. Valve 26 and a similar test valve 20 are used for manual monitoring.
