A peptizing agent for rubber comprises a mixture of 50-99% by weight of a zinc salt of a fatty acid containing four or more carbon atoms and 50-1% by weight of an aromatic compound containing sulphur. The exemplified mixture comprises a zinc salt of mixed C 4-9 acids and o,o<SP>1</SP>-dibenzoylamino diphenyl disulphide.
